Chris Wittenauer joined Peabody Energy in 2010 and became General Counsel in 2021. He earned his JD while working at a Certified Public Accounting firm. Chris served as Assistant General Counsel at Emerson Process Management and practiced at Paule, Camazine and Blumenthal in St. Louis. Chris is also Chairman of the Board of Easter Seals Midwest.
As part of LCLD's Leaders at the Front initiative, Chris created a Leader's Pledge detailing his personal and organizational commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Read Chris's pledge here.
In 2018, Peabody's CEO signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Pledge, which includes a deliberate focus on actions like implementing and expanding unconscious bias training. Peabody's commitment to diversity also includes a focus on indigenous communities and women in mining.
