Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary, Abbott Laboratories
Hubert Allen joined Abbott Laboratories in 2006 and held roles of increasing responsibility before becoming General Counsel in 2013. He was previously Assistant General Counsel at McKesson Corporation. Hubert is also Director of Metropolitan Family Services and serves on the Executive Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago.
At Abbott, Hubert has led the creation of a diverse legal department, through focusing on diverse hiring internally and among outside counsel, building relationships with diverse associates, and partnering with social organizations. Abbott achieves all three of these goals by inviting diverse associates that work on their matters to partner with them on community service and pro bono projects: "It gives us an opportunity to interact with associates in a different way than you might at a party," Hubert says. "In doing the work, it brings out a different part of you."
Abbott was named an LCLD Top Performer in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
