Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, Equitable Holdings
José Ramón González leads Equitable’s law department with responsibility for all legal, compliance, regulatory, and governmental affairs. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel at CNA Insurance, serving as principal counsel to the senior management team and board of directors, and practiced law at Weil, Gotshal & Manges. With a steadfast commitment to community, José has served on several non-profit boards of directors; currently, he serves as Chair of the board of LatinoJustice PRLDEF, and as a member of the boards of The Bass Museum of Art and the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

As of 2021, Equitable’s Board of Directors is 44% diverse, more than half of its employees and nearly a third of its leadership are women, and more than a quarter of its leadership is ethnically diverse. The company’s diversity initiatives include several employee resource groups and diversity education summits. Equitable has achieved a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index since 2014, and on the Disability Equality Index in 2020.
