Julie Gruber joined Gap as Counsel in 1998 and has held several leadership positions before becoming General Counsel in 2016. Before coming to Gap, she practiced litigation and intellectual property at Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon in San Francisco. Gap is a supporter of the Mansfield Rule, a pilot from DiversityLab that requires law firms to consider a diverse slate of candidates for leadership positions. On announcing their support, Julie said: “We believe diversity drives better results. We've worked for years to help drive meaningful diversity at our preferred law firm providers.”

At Gap, women make up 74 percent of employees and 47 percent of the executive committee, while minorities make up 49 percent of all employees and 25 percent of management.
