Laura Schumacher joined AbbVie in 2013, and now leads a team of more than 400 people. She was previously General Counsel at Abbott Laboratories. According to the CEO of AbbVie, Laura has been instrumental in creating a culture of giving at the company by empowering employees to give back to their communities. 

Laura is also a great believer in the power of mentoring. "I have benefited greatly from outstanding mentors in my career and I believe all senior leaders should be dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders," she said in a recent interview.

In 2018, DiversityInc named AbbVie a Top 50 Company for Diversity for the fifth year in a row, recognized in particular for a strong talent pipeline and leadership accountability. Diversity initiatives at AbbVie include employee resource groups and a variety of mentorship opportunities.
