General Counsel, Capital One Financial 

Matthew Cooper joined Capital One in 2009 and became Head of the company’s legal department in 2016. While he leads all legal functions at Capital One, he said in an interview with Modern Counsel that talent development is his top priority. Matthew also serves on the Board of Directors of Venture Richmond. 

As part of LCLD's Leaders at the Front initiative, Matt created a Leader's Pledge detailing his personal and organizational commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Read Matt's pledge here. 

Capital One promotes an inclusive workforce through associate networks and connection groups, as well as through unconscious bias training and leadership development programs. Capital One has been named a Best Place to Work for LGBT equality and disability inclusion, as well as Corporation of the Year by the National Minority Supplier Development Council.
