Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Booz Allen Hamilton
Nancy Laben decided she wanted to be a lawyer at age 12, and has spent her entire career in-house. She practiced at IBM and Accenture before becoming General Counsel of AECOM, and joined Booz Allen as Chief Legal Officer in 2013. Nancy is a frequent speaker on diversity in the law and serves as a Commissioner on the ABA's Commission on Women in the Profession.
In 2020, Booz Allen renewed its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion: "We set out to reinvigorate a race and social equity agenda that matched what was needed—not what we were necessarily already comfortable with," Nancy said in an interview. This new agenda includes increasing the representation of people of color through the Mansfield Rule and other means, revisiting expectations for outside counsel, and group listening sessions. As of 2020, 67% of Booz Allen's Board of Directors and eight of the nine members of its leadership team were diverse.
Booz Allen was named an LCLD Top Performer in 2022.
