Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer, BASF North America 

Stefan John joined BASF in 2014 as Senior Vice President, Legal and took on his current role in 2018. He previously oversaw HR, Legal, and Compliance at building material manufacturer Dyckerhoff and worked in-house at General Electric and Stinnes AG with international assignments in the US, Germany, Italy, and England.

As part of LCLD's Leaders at the Front initiative, Stefan created a Leader's Pledge detailing his personal and organizational commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Read Stefan's pledge here.

In 2018, BASF's legal department partnered with LCLD and LawyerMetrix to enhance their Outside Counsel Diversity Program through data collection and collaboration. In 2016, BASF marked its fourth consecutive year on DiversityInc’s list of the top 50 companies for diversity, recognized in part for a high percentage of women in senior management roles. The company also has eight employee resource groups and a supplier diversity program. BASF was named an LCLD Top Performer in 2019 and 2021.
