Steve McManus worked for State Farm full-time while attending law school and became the 36th attorney to join the company’s legal department in 1991. Today he oversees the company’s 800 lawyers as General Counsel. In 2016, Steve led State Farm to join the Inclusion Initiative, through which corporate law departments commit to increase their spending with women- and minority-owned law firms.
As part of LCLD's Leaders at the Front initiative, Steve created a Leader's Pledge detailing his personal and organizational commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Read Steve's pledge here.
Diversity initiatives at State Farm include 11 employee resource groups and a supplier diversity program. In order to serve a diverse customer base, 35 percent of State Farm agents provided bilingual services as of 2018.
State Farm was named an LCLD Top Performer in 2021 and 2022.
