Managing Partner, Thompson Hine LLP

When Deborah Read became Managing Partner of Thompson Hine in 2012, she was the first woman to lead a Cleveland-based national law firm. She has also served as Hiring Partner, Chair of the Tax, Benefits, and Planning Department, and Chair of the Lawyer Personnel Committee. During her tenure as Hiring Partner, she created a unique hiring and integration program which led the firm to be listed as one of the top firms of its size for lateral partner satisfaction and integration. In 2016, the ABA named Deborah a "Legal Rebel" for redesigning the firm's approach to practice and client service. She is also Director of the Greater Cleveland Partnership and Co-Chair of the Commission on Economic Inclusion.

Diversity efforts at Thompson Hine include diversity fellowships for 1Ls and 2Ls, a robust women's initiative, and programs for diverse law students, including an externship in Washington, DC that provides students with practical work experience and one-on-one mentoring. The firm has received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index every year since 2013.
