Neil Barr joined Davis Polk & Wardwell in 2000, became Partner in 2008, and led the firm's Tax Department for five years before being elected Managing Partner in 2019. He has also served as Chair of the American Bar Associations Corporate Tax Committee. 

At Davis Polk & Wardwell, 27 percent of lawyers were born outside of the United States and 30 percent are diverse or LGBT. The firm consistently ranks in the top 20 firms on The American Lawyer's Diversity Scorecard. In 2015, Davis Polk was honored at the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund's Freedom Awards for pro bono advancement of transgender rights.
