Chairman, Lewis Rice LLP
Richard Walsh Jr. became Chairman of Lewis Rice in 2020, after serving as Chair of the Litigation Department since 2012. As Chairman, he works with firm leadership to implement programs and initiatives to support the growth and mentorship of Lewis Rice’s associates, minority, and women lawyers. Richard is a fellow in the Trial Lawyer Honorary Society of the Litigation Counsel of America and serves on the Audit Committee for the St. Louis Zoo
Lewis Rice has inclusive roots: in 1909, its founders "overlooked the traditional Christian/Jewish distinctions within law practices at the time and melded their different religions...to form a successful law firm." It was one of the first law firms in St. Louis to name an African American equity partner, and women have served on its Management Committee for more than 30 years. Other diversity initiatives at Lewis Rice include its Women2Women forum, a mentorship program, and diverse recruitment and retention policies.
