Attendees will explore with Frantz her principles for leadership and decision making, and how these principles have evolved during her professional career, particularly at Microsoft and in the technology sector. Frantz will discuss strategies and characteristics necessary for successful organizational leadership and strong decision making. She will also discuss the importance of authenticity, emotional intelligence, and finding your inner motivation. Attendees will also gain insights from Frantz on her former positions as a law clerk, an academic, a law firm partner, and how each prepared her for her current role at Microsoft.

About Carolyn Frantz
Carolyn Frantz currently serves as a Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Microsoft. She joined the company in 2016 to manage its worldwide tax litigation and, in 2017, became Microsoft’s Corporate Secretary and head of its Corporate Law Group. Prior to joining Microsoft, Frantz was a partner at Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott LLP, where her practice was focused on complex civil litigation and appellate litigation matters. Before private law practice, Frantz was an assistant professor at The University of Chicago Law School and an Alexander Fellow at New York University Law School and previously served as a law clerk to Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (retired) on the U.S. Supreme Court and to Judge David S. Tatel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Frantz graduated summa cum laude from Wake Forest University with a degree in philosophy and received graduate degrees from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. Frantz received her law degree, summa cum laude, from The University of Michigan Law School, where she was awarded the Bates Prize, the law school’s highest honor for graduating students.
