Navigating Narrative Change
When Christy Coleman was named President and CEO of the American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar in 2008, she was the only African-American woman in the country leading a significant Civil War museum. It was later announced that the museum would merge with The Museum of the Confederacy; presenting Coleman with the task of merging not only two museums, but two narratives of what the Civil War was about, and its place in American history.
How do you lead two organizations through a merger? How do you shape the narrative of two organizations to represent the experiences of all people? How do you communicate narrative change to the world?
Coleman, who is currently the CEO of what is now known as The American Civil War Museum, will discuss how she has led her organization through a time of great change and the leadership attributes it takes to succeed.
This event is sponsored by the LCLD Fellows Alumni All In Funds.
