I, Albert Dotson Jr., personally commit to the following:

Personal Commitment

  • Lead by example to foster an inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds can thrive, an environment where all people, including and especially, minorities, are empowered to succeed and excel.
  • Examine how we can expand and strengthen mentorship initiatives for diverse lawyers within the firm and for young people from underrepresented communities who aspire to become attorneys.
  • Meet at least bi-annually with the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee to support and expand its agenda.
  • Work with the firm’s Hiring Committee and practice group leaders to ensure a diverse pipeline of candidates at every level- associates, of counsel, and partners.
  • Communicate key DEI initiatives and convey the importance of active participation in such initiatives during firm-wide town halls.
  • Work with the firm’s leadership to provide regular and ample opportunities for lawyers to receive DEI education and training.
  • Connect with the firm’s LCLD Fellows, Pathfinders, and LCLD alumni to study new ways to integrate DEI into attorney professional development.

Organizational Commitment

  • Collaborate with clients and other organizations committed to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal, professional, and business communities.
  • Encourage lawyers from diverse backgrounds to attend industry conferences and recruitment events focusing on the advancement of underrepresented lawyers.
  • Offer experiential opportunities through our business and professional networks for diverse lawyers to grow their industry and community connections and business development potential.
  • Continue to use the firm’s pro bono program to serve traditionally marginalized communities.
  • Continue the firm’s active membership in the Law Firm Anti-Racism Alliance (LFAA) and leadership of key LFAA subcommittees.
  • Curate year-round, thought-provoking programming aimed at elevating the consciousness of all firm employees on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion through the firm’s speaker series program.
  • Continue our long-running partnership with the National Association for Law Placement through its Street Law Legal Diversity Pipeline Program.
  • Continue to work with the Southern Poverty Law Center to support the organization’s ongoing efforts to use the court system and other forms of advocacy to expose and combat hate, racism, and unfair laws throughout the U.S.
