I, Alyssa Harvey Dawson, personally commit to the following:

Personal Commitment 

  • Use my position as a leader in my organization and in the profession to advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in the legal profession and business, in general.
  • Be a resource for attorneys from underrepresented communities, including by providing awareness of and, if possible, access to opportunities.
  • Identify ways to host or co-host an LCLD Leadership Lunch, and make myself available for follow-up conversations with at least two Fellows in attendance.
  • I will meet with my organization’s Fellows, Pathfinders, and Alumni to discuss their experiences within the organization, and ask each individual to come to the meeting with a recommendation for how the organization could improve. 
  • I will make sure the law firms that we work with understand the importance of having a diverse set of attorneys working on our company matters and staff accordingly.

Organizational Commitment 

  • In hiring, work to ensure diverse slates, emphasizing the importance of continuing through to the different levels of the interview process.
  • Maintain a DI&B team within the legal department and be a mentor and have a clear presence with our employee resource groups.
  • Work with the DI&B team to ensure robust programming is being provided to the organization, with at least two events being provided to the organization annually.
  • Introduce metrics in the hiring and promotion process for greater accountability on diversity.
