I, Christine Wheatley, personally commit to the following:

Personal Commitment

  • I will strive in my words and actions to be anti-racist, have the humility to accept when I have failed, and continue to try.
  • I will be a vulnerable leader even when it is uncomfortable to do so.
  • I will stop worrying about the consequences of being outspoken and recognize that it is my moral obligation to speak out as an advocate and an ally.
  • I will continue to vocally support mental and emotional well-being.
  • I will continue to serve the Kroger PRIDE associate resource group as its executive sponsor and broaden my participation in our resource groups.
  • I will become more actively involved in LCLD this year.

Organizational Commitment

As an organization, Kroger has implemented a Framework for Action: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, encompassing the following five pillars, and each business unit or department has adopted customized plans to support the pillars.

  • Create Inclusive Culture
  • Develop Diverse Talent
  • Advance Diverse Partnerships
  • Advance Equitable Communities
  • Deeply Listen and Be Transparent

The Law and Compliance Departments at Kroger have adopted the following plans to support the Framework for Action pillars:

  • Participate in Greater Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program (“GCMCP”) mentorship/peer-to-peer advisor program pairing GCMCP members with attorneys outside of their places of employment and LCLD alumni programs and mentoring
  • Participate in SWEL (Summer Work Experience in Law) and LLI (the Law & Leadership Institute), and other local/regional pipeline programs
  • Monitor Law Department spend with minority/female-owned law firms and minority/female partners at law firms, in support of Kroger’s goal of increasing spend with diverse suppliers from $3.4 to $10 billion by 2030.
  • Increase exposure to National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) firms
