I, Ed Sebold, commit to the following action items to further Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity (“ID&E”) in the legal profession and support Kyndryl’s ID&E strategic goals and priorities:
Personal Commitment
I will:
- Drive a culture of inclusion and belonging by:
- Modeling inclusive behaviors in my role within Kyndryl.
- Continuing to learn about the diverse communities within Kyndryl and external legal departments by engaging in regular listening sessions with constituents of those communities and actively participating in Kyndryl Inclusion Network employee events.
- Attract, develop, and retain diverse talent across levels and geographies by:
- Personally mentoring a diverse attorney or law student and empowering Kyndryl’s lawyers/contract professionals to do the same.
- Encouraging at least two outside firms that regularly represent Kyndryl to appoint diverse lawyers to handle Kyndryl matters.
- Embed ID&E in Kyndryl’s Legal Department by:
- Requiring 100% participation in Kyndryl’s implicit bias training.
- Meeting with at least two other general counsel annually to discuss ways to promote ID&E within Kyndryl and the profession.
- Cultivate opportunity and promote equity in underserved communities by:
- Encouraging my team to identify pro bono opportunities that serve this purpose.
Organizational Commitment
The Kyndryl Legal Department will:
- Drive a culture where employees feel a sense of inclusion and belonging by:
- Encouraging and demonstrating participation in Kyndryl’s Inclusion Networks and related programming.
- Expecting that everyone in the Legal/C&N Department include an ID&E goal among their annual business objectives.
- Attract, develop, and retain diverse talent across levels and geographies by:
- Seeking a diverse slate of candidates when hiring and promoting in Kyndryl’s Legal/C&N Department consistent with the company’s ID&E aspirational goals.
- Joining in LCLD’s mentoring and 1L Scholar programs to introduce new diverse attorneys to Kyndryl.
- Selecting diverse lawyers to participate in LCLD’s Fellows and Pathfinder Programs.
- Embed ID&E in Kyndryl’s business by:
- Continuing to thoughtfully lay a foundation of ID&E values and practices in the Legal/C&N Department that will sustain and grow the department in the years to come.
- Conducting an in-depth review of outside counsel representation to identify diversity of current representation and exploring specific pathways toward identifying opportunities for improvement as warranted.
- Maintaining at least two diverse attorneys as relationship partners from outside counsel firms.
- Cultivate opportunity and promote equity in underserved communities by:
- Encouraging lawyers/contract professionals to take an active part in Kyndryl’s volunteer initiatives.
