Meredith Fuchs
General Counsel — Plaid
I, Meredith Fuchs, personally commit to the following:
Personal Commitments
- I will use my voice as a leader in my organization and in the profession to advocate for DE&I in the legal profession and in my community.
- I will sponsor two LCLD Fellows and, if budget permits, two LCLD Pathfinders annually.
- I will meet annually with at least five other general counsel in my industry to discuss how to promote DE&I internally and among our legal service providers.
- I will meet semi-annually with my organization’s Fellows, Pathfinders, and Alumni to discuss their experiences within the organization, and require each individual to come to the meeting with a recommendation for how the organization could improve.
- I will share my team’s diversity metrics with the entire team annually.
- I will participate in BRG events and meetings so that I can be visible as a senior diverse leader within our company.
Organizational Commitments
- I will create a DEIB Council to identify effective methods to improve DEIB on our team.
- I will survey my outside counsel firms about their diversity metrics and provide feedback on the results. I aspire to send a message to all outside counsel about the importance of diversity in the legal profession.
- I will work with one LCLD Member law firm to develop a secondment program for diverse 1Ls.
- I will require diverse hiring panels within the law department. I will ensure that the hiring manager and interviewers have a lens for understanding the business need for diverse talent/representation. I will train the hiring manager and interviewers on methods to reduce unconscious bias in the hiring process.
- I will require diversity in succession planning for internal legal leadership positions.
