I, Michael Boxer, personally commit to the following:
Personal Commitment
- I will use my voice as a leader in Thermo Fisher Scientific and in my professional affiliations to advocate for D&I within Thermo Fisher and the broader legal profession.
- I will ensure that D&I is a core value of the Thermo Fisher Legal Department and that acting in ways that support D&I is part of our department values and expectations through our annual legal goal setting and performance review process.
- I will annually sponsor one diverse lawyer within my legal department. I will actively seek to share my knowledge of how to succeed within Thermo Fisher and the legal profession with lawyers from under-represented groups.
- I will meet annually with my organization’s Fellows, Pathfinders, and Alumni to discuss their experiences within the organization, and facilitate an open discussion for how the organization could improve.
- I will partner with a law firm to host an LCLD Leadership Lunch and select at least two Fellows in attendance for a follow-up conversation.
- I will actively and openly share with the Legal Leadership Team at Thermo Fisher and with the Managing Partner/Chair of each of our company preferred firms my personal expectations regarding D&I on the work that law firms do with us.
Organizational Commitment
- I will lead the Thermo Fisher Scientific Legal Just Project to engage with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in order to ensure HBCUs are an integral part of our legal department talent acquisition strategy. Specifically, I will work with the HBCUs to ensure that Thermo Fisher creates (1) sustainable pathways for opportunities for existing HBCU law students as well as (2) establish communication and outreach strategies to ensure HBCU alumni are aware of career opportunities within Thermo Fisher.
- I will sponsor Thermo Fisher’s inaugural D&I Legal Council where legal colleagues will develop and implement focused strategies to ensure Thermo Fisher’s existing diverse and global teams are agents for creating and sustaining a culture where diverse attorneys thrive.
- We will enhance Thermo Fisher’s legal mentoring and sponsorship program so that all diverse attorneys have the opportunity to be mentored or sponsored by senior leaders within the organization.
- I will ensure that the Thermo Fisher Legal Department leverages its diverse talent and global voices to actively support and benefit from the Company’s existing mentoring and D&I programs and resources. Within our department, we will enhance Thermo Fisher’s legal mentoring and sponsorship program so that all diverse attorneys have the opportunity to be mentored or sponsored by senior leaders within the organization.
