I, Shana Simmons, personally commit to the following:

Personal Commitments

  • I will use my position and presence at Everlaw, in the legal community, and in the tech industry to champion DEI initiatives, collaborating with my colleagues to achieve Everlaw’s DEI commitments while advocating for material systemic change.
  • I will sponsor a cohort of Everlawyers to participate in the LCLD Fellows and Pathfinder programs.
  • I will champion diversity and inclusion by leading by example. I commit to striving for 50% representation by women and / or BIPOC lawyers in my department, and to spending 50% of my budget for women and/or BIPOC external outside counsel.
  • I will continue to mentor formally and informally, and will connect new mentees' requests with receptive mentors in my professional network.
  • I will continue to collaborate with academia, the tech industry and legal peers to create events and forums to attract, educate and inspire present and future women, BIPOC lawyers and tech professionals.

Organizational Commitments

  • We will continue to provide support and resources to our Everlaw for Good program, which empowers champions for social justice in communities across the country with unmet legal needs.
  • We will continue to champion and engage in volunteer work that strives to provide support to our local community and organizations in need.
  • We will continue to invest in and develop our Employee Resource Group program to provide inclusive spaces for employees from underrepresented and historically marginalized groups, providing a platform for intentional belonging, leadership development and continuous learning. Our goal is to increase membership in our Employee Resource Group by 20% this fiscal year.
  • We will continue to review, revise and set our own bar for internal processes, including those related to recruitment, hiring and promotion, to promote equity and provide the foundation for all Everlawyers to develop rewarding careers.
  • We will continue to provide thoughtful training opportunities to support our employees and managers in developing and implementing their DEI knowledge and practice to make systemic change within their teams, across the company, in the industry and in our wider global community.
