I, Shannon Higginson, personally commit to the following:

At lululemon, we are committed to Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in Action (“IDEA”). We are committed to making a difference in everything we do, for every human we connect with, and throughout our entire company and at every level. As an executive at lululemon, a member of the Executive IDEA Steering Committee, the executive sponsor of the Indigenous Employee Resource Group (“ERG”), the leader of the legal team, and as an individual dedicated to equity for all, I personally commit to the following:

Commitment to Internal Legal Function

  • Advance IDEA by holding myself, my teams, and my company accountable for inclusive behaviors and decisions. This includes, as General Counsel, ensuring that lululemon goes well beyond what is legally mandated to promote policies and practices that foster inclusion and equity. We will not limit ourselves to mitigating risk, and instead embed systemic changes that promote justice and equity.
  • Require diverse candidate slates for 100% of all posted roles within the legal department. I will ensure that we are inclusive in our selection, recruitment, and interview process and that we have diverse assessment panels.
  • Regularly audit for pay equity and adjust for discrepancies between gender, race and across all other demographic groups.
  • Reinforce an inclusive culture within the lululemon legal department in which all employees, especially underrepresented groups, feel a strong sense of psychological safety, belonging, and trust. This will be measured as per an inclusion index on our annual employee demographic survey.
  • Expect every legal department team member to have at least one annual goal explicitly tied to IDEA demonstrating their contribution to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace culture.
  • Continue to engage in lifelong education and learning across IDEA topics, including through organizational training resources, book clubs, and educational programs that lululemon and the legal team organize.

Commitment to lululemon

  • Sponsor our Indigenous ERG and listen deeply to learn from their experiences, be an advocate for their goals, and amplify community leadership. As a legal professional working and living on the traditional, unceded Coast Salish territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh Nations, I commit to a personal journey towards truth and reconciliation through continuous unlearning of practices that perpetuate inequity and harm Indigenous peoples and the land.
  • Engage our IDEA function to regularly oversee and advise on our IDEA progress, efforts, and goals.
  • Hold our company accountable to increase representation of racialized employees by hiring diverse leadership and supporting our company goal of 30% racial diversity in our director and above employee base.
  • Ensuring that our IDEA commitments and results are shared with the Board of Directors and continue to be a strategic priority for lululemon.

Commitment to Legal Profession

  • Engage our IDEA function to regularly oversee and advise on our IDEA progress, efforts, and goals.
  • Mandate diversity and diversity programs that align with IDEA in our partnering law firms, including increased use of minority and women-owned law firms, as well as demanding that lawyers from underrepresented backgrounds in majority- owned firms be assigned to our matters.
  • Transparently share learnings and progress with other general counsel to collaborate on ways in which we can advance IDEA within the legal profession and retail organizations.
