2011 Annual Meeting Builds Success

More than 200 LCLD Members and guests, along with nearly 100 Fellows, attended the LCLD Annual Meeting September 14-16. Featuring guest speakers Newark Mayor Cory Booker and former Procter & Gamble Chair John Pepper, the meeting showcased theBUILD Initiative, designed to maximize the impact of our four strategic Committees and to successfully BUILD diversity within organizations.

A Skyscraper of Good Ideas

One of the Meeting's highlights was a brainstorming session during which Members offered ideas and statements of commitment on BUILD IT cards. These ideas are now being indexed and analyzed, but shortly after the session Richmond, VA-based artistAlison Auth used the cards to create an 18-foot-high skyscraper symbolizing the aspirations of LCLD. To watch the work in progress, see this video.

Members Tool Kit

The Meeting also introduced new materials designed to help make the most of LCLD membership. One is a portfolio-style Members Tool Kit, which includes a set ofreference cards describing LCLD programs, copies of our new Brochure, and a web key that unlocks the new Members web site. Membership Chair Dennis Broderick will be sending copies of the Tool Kit to those who missed the meeting. If you'd like additional copies, contact Robert Grey at rgrey@lcldnet.com.

New Section of the Web Site for Members

Also introduced at the Annual Meeting was a new section of the LCLD web site that connects Members to vital, up-to-the-minute information about LCLD's mission, programs, and strategic Committees. You'll find Resource materials for your diversity directors and marketing/PR departments (including a downloadable Members Tool Kit), a new statistical snapshot of diversity in the profession called Trendlines, and a specialsection designed for new LCLD Members. To visit and bookmark this new site, click hereor simply navigate to it from our main site.
