2011 Fellow Jimmie McMillian was recenly selected to receive the prestigious “Legacy Award” at the 9th Annual Spirit Awards Gala at the Madame Walker Theatre Center in Indianapolis. The Gala honors today’s leaders who advance yesterday’s legacy for a brighter tomorrow. The Spirit Awards celebrate the “incredible contributions of our nation’s foremost leaders in business & entrepreneurship, civic engagement, philanthropy, and cultural arts.” Jimmie has represented the Madame C.J. Walker Board, pro bono, for three years.

Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. is searching for an Information Security Officer for their Privacy & Information Security group in their Princeton, NJ location. The manager of the position is Ivelisse Clausell, Senior Compliance Counsel/Privacy Officer. Role description: Support critical company projects by designing, overseeing, and managing Otsuka’s U.S. information security program, including policies, procedures, technical systems, and workforce training in order to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data within all of the company’s information systems. The ISO role addresses electronic systems architecture and functionality as it affects safeguards of electronic protected health information (PHI) as well as business information assets. Staff support: Directs two Information Security managers (contractors). Responsibilities (synopsis): Ensure the Information Security program, system and policies support the business and comply with applicable laws (e.g., HIPAA); Coordinate and oversee the security program activities and the reporting processes related to Otsuka computer systems and Networks; Otsuka Facilities and physical assets; Liaise closely with IT Security functions and programs (NOTE: While some IT Staff have responsibilities for certain aspects of IT security, there is no designated Information Security Officer who has overall responsibility. The Officer should be separate from the IT group (to mitigate potential conflicts of interest); Bob Mack is in alignment with the Information Security Officer being in EQC); Manage budget for security program requirements.
