 ADVOCACY GROUPS PROGRAM

In the Fall of 2013, over 100 LCLD Fellows began participating in the Advocacy Groups Program, a collaborative system where Fellows separate into groups of five in order to promote each other’s careers.  Here’s how it works:

  • Each Advocacy Group schedules regular conference calls.  On each call, the members of the group do an intensive review of the career of a single Fellow.  They give feedback based upon that Fellow’s summary of her career history and goals.

  • As follow-up to each call, Advocacy Group members take steps to assist the Fellow whose career was reviewed on the call.  These steps may include sharing learning resources, making introductions to contacts, and other favors that might assist in advancing the Fellow’s goals.

  • An Advocacy Group cycle lasts for approximately six months.  Then, the cycle repeats with participants moving to new groups or remaining with their original groups as they choose.

We have concluded the first round of Advocacy Groups, and we’re excited about Advocacy Groups Cycle II, which begins on June 9, 2014.  Please use the following link to sign up for Advocacy Groups.   For more information about Advocacy Groups, please contact Michael-Bryant Hicks or Lica Tomizuka

 NATIONAL GIRLFRIEND'S NETWORKING DAY - JUNE 4TH

National Girlfriend’s Networking (NGN) Day is a nationwide celebration of the power of building connections sponsored by The New Agenda, a national, non-profit and non-partisan women’s organization devoted to improving the lives of women and girls. NGN is held each year on June 4th - the day that women got the right to vote in 1919 by joint resolution when Congress approved the women’s suffrage amendment and sent it to the states for ratification.

NGN is a one-hour event from 12:30-1:30 EST that includes a live panel discussion in NYC featuring renowned, diverse women leaders discussing their personal experiences.  The panel is streamed to events around the country hosted by corporations and women entrepreneurs, allowing thousands of women to tune in and interact with the panel and then network with others in the room.

Although the main event in is NYC, there are also events all over the country.  You can learn more about these events and sign up for a local event by clicking here.  This year Jocelyn Bramble will be attending the Washington, DC event on June 4th at Weil Gotshal.  Please let Jocelyn know if you are able to attend the event in Washington DC.
