ANNOUNCEMENTS

 2014 Fellow Wesley Bizzell was included in a recently released NYSE video that is a part of its Inside Compliance on-demand web series.  Please click here to see the video in which Wesley discusses corporate political activity and compliance with Eric Morehead of NYSE Governance Services.  

2014 Fellow Jamilah Mensah was recently honored as a Houston 40 under 40 Influential People - Lawyers' Edition Program.  The award recognizes up and coming professionals and is designed to honor individuals of diverse backgrounds who have made positive contributions to their profession and community.

TMCP CORPORATE COUNSEL OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Texas Minority Counsel Program Corporate Counsel of the Year Award recognizes in-house counsel who has opened doors for Texas minority and women attorneys by promoting diversity within their legal department and/or company and by consistently hiring diverse attorneys in private practice to perform legal work on behalf of their company.  Please click here for information about this award and how to nominate individuals for this award. 

TMCP TRAILBLAZER OUTSIDE COUNSEL OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Texas Minority Counsel Program Trailblazer Outside Counsel of the Year Award recognizes outside counsel who has effectuated the promotion of diversity within the legal profession through hiring, retention and mentoring of diverse attorneys, partnering with minority and women owned law firms and involvement with Bar and/or community activities designed to promote diversity within the legal profession.  Please click here for more information about this award and how to nominate individuals for this award.


SPEAKER OPPORTUNITY

Speaking opportunities are available at the 4th Annual eDiscovery Leadership Conference, which will be held on Halloween (October 31st) at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. The event has grown from 80 attendees in year 1, to 220 attendees in year 2, and to over 260 legal professionals in attendance last year.

The Legal Learning Series is honored to be the premier eDiscovery conference for the Florida legal community. With a full day of educational classes, networking and fun. The day will include Continental Breakfast, Lunch (including a presentation), and Networking Time.  It concludes with a Cocktail Reception in the Networking Lounge with Strategic Partners, Sponsors, Speakers and Attendees. This year’s conference will have over 300 attendees and 30 exhibitors.  GUEST COLUMNIST OPPORTUNITY

LCLD invites you to author a guest column for the Success in Law School Connections publication.  This publication goes to approximately 2000 law firm and corporate attorney Mentors and 1L Mentees every other month (January, March, May, July, September, and November). 

Connections articles are 500-750 words and can be on any topic that you think is relevant to law school 1L Mentees and/or lawyer Mentors.  Here is a link to archived Connections newsletters if you want to check out guest columns that have been published in previous editions.

The deadline for final copy is the 10th of the month in which the article will be published.  We have availability for publication this fall, so please email Louise Bald, lbald@lcldnet.com, to express an interest in writing an upcoming guest column.  Thank you!
