More than 200 mid-career attorneys have been selected by their Member organizations to join the LCLD Fellows program in 2015. This is the largest class of Fellows in the program’s five-year history.
The 2015 Fellows met for the first time from March 6-8 in New Orleans, where they shared meeting space, and several working sessions, with the outgoing Fellows class of 2014.
“The LCLD Fellows program is becoming recognized across the country as an extraordinarily effective way to develop talent,” said Brad Smith, LCLD Chair and Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Microsoft Corporation. “Along the way, the Fellows themselves are building a powerful, connected community of rising leaders in the legal profession.”
Deborah Majoras (Chief Legal Officer and Secretary, Procter & Gamble) and Gary Sasso (President and CEO, Carlton Fields Jorden Burt) guide the Fellows program curriculum in their capacity as LCLD Board advisers to the program. Read the full article.

Fellows Experience the Darden Restaurants "EDGE"

Several dozen LCLD Fellows traveled to Orlando on February 7, 2015 for a corporate Learning Experience at Darden Restaurants, hosted by General Counsel Teresa Sebastian and her Legal department.
Darden is one of the largest full-service restaurant companies in the United States. It operates more than 1,500 restaurants, employs 150,000 people, and serves 320 million meals a year at flagship restaurants such as Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, The Capital Grille, Eddie V’s, and Yard House. (Last year Darden sold Red Lobster, its first and oldest restaurant chain.)
The Fellows learned that the concept of EDGE Service sets Darden apart from other restaurant corporations. EDGE is company shorthand for an attitude of extreme attentiveness to the human side of the restaurant business, consistently going above and beyond the call of duty to personalize the guest experience. Read the full article and view photos from the event.
The next Learning Experience will take place March 24, 2015 at the U.S. Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C., where 2011 Fellow Vanessa Allen Sutherland is a Presidential appointee and Chief Counsel, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. If you're interested in hosting a corporate Learning Experience, please contact Stephanie Uzel.

LCLD is pleased to bring back an exciting element to the 2015 1L LCLD Scholars Summit--mock interviewing. We invite attorneys from LCLD Member organizations to help conduct mock interviews for approximately 180 students on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 10 am to 4 pm CT. Attorneys may sign up to participate for all or a portion of this time in two-hour blocks (students will be scheduled every 30 minutes). The interviews will take place at the Dallas office of Jones Day, located at 2727 North Harwood Street.
We hope that you will consider partnering with us on this initiative. Please sign up here by May 8, 2015 to participate.
The intent of these mock interviews is for the 1L Scholars to gain valuable practice and feedback in advance of On-Campus Interviews coming in the fall. The interviews are not meant to be a recruiting opportunity and should not be treated as such.
For more information about the 1L LCLD Scholars Program, please contact Program Manager Louise Bald.
