1. Are Quotas the Best Path to Board Diversity?

Many European nations have passed legislation to set diversity quotas for corporate boards, but some believe organic growth is better long-term. One expert suggests boards should be based both in competency and constituency:
- Make sure a candidate has the basic competencies and skill sets necessary for the board.
- Look for specific experiences the candidate has had that would be valuable to the board.
- Finally, discover what perspectives on gender, generation, ethnicity, or geography the candidate may have that are not already present on the board.
2. Margaret Chu Ikeya of Hewlett-Packard Shares Her Secret to Being a Good Leader

2014 Fellow Margaret Chu Ikeya was named 2015 Best Corporate Counsel, IP Law by the Silicon Valley Business Journal. Margaret attributes her success in leadership to being able to leverage others' skills. "Everyone has a different communication style, everyone contributes differently, everyone likes to work a little differently," she said. "I think collectively, you can achieve much greater things than on your own."
3. New Dads in Togo are Guaranteed Something that U.S. Dads Aren't

Ninety-six countries mandate paid leave for new fathers, in addition to maternal leave, but the United States isn’t one of them. In fact, the U.S. is one of just nine countries (and the only developed country) that do not guarantee any amount of parental leave for either parent, according to a report from UCLA.
4. Law Students Tell Justices How Same-Sex Marriage Bans Harm Careers

Law students from LGBT groups at six top law schools submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court detailing the ways in which their future careers would be harmed by bans on same-sex marriage, from where to live and look for jobs to their ultimate career and life satisfaction.
5. Kilpatrick Townsend Names First Female Leader in D.C.

LCLD Member Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton named the first female managing partner of its Washington, D.C. office, Catherine Munson.
