Last Chance to Register Your Organization for 2016 1L Scholars

There are only a few days left to register your organization to participate in the 2016 1L LCLD Scholars Program.
Please register your organization by November 15, 2015 to participate in the 2016 program.
LCLD will post the complete list of opportunities on our website beginning December 1, 2015, so that 1L law students may apply directly to participating organizations for summer internships.

Two More Fellows Become Top Leaders
Congratulations to 2013 Fellow Kris Carey, who was recently named Senior Vice President and General Counsel–Beer Division at Constellation Brands, Inc. Kris was a 2013 Fellow at LCLD Member organization McDonald's Corporation.
We'd also like to congratulate 2014 Fellow Maria Wing, who was recently appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Delaware River Port Authority. Prior to her new role, Maria was a senior associate at LCLD Member firm Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP.

With the holidays around the corner, we wanted to remind you of upcoming important dates and information related to the 2016 Fellows Program, which is designed to connect high?potential attorneys from preeminent organizations for a yearlong, three?tiered professional development series that focuses on leadership, personal brand development, and relationship building. - The program is designed for diverse attorneys with 8-15 years of practice experience, who have demonstrated strong performance and leadership skills.

Brett Hart, LCLD Board Treasurer, was named Interim CEO of United Continental Holdings. Upon the permanent CEO's return in the first quarter of 2016, Brett will resume his position as Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
Ellen Dwyer, LCLD Board Member and Managing Partner of Crowell & Moring LLP, was named one of Washingtonian’s 100 Most Powerful Women of 2015, alongside Loretta Lynch and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Peter Kalis, LCLD Board Member and Chairman and Global Managing Partner of K&L Gates LLP, discussed the six biggest challenges facing law firms.
Mark Roellig, LCLD Board Member and General Counsel of MassMutual, received the Transformative Leadership Awards’ Roderick Palmore Pathmaker Award for his diversity efforts.
Kurt Tunnell, LCLD Member and Managing Partner at Bricker & Eckler LLP, and Marilyn McClure-Demers, 2014 Fellow and Associate General Counsel at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, were two of six recipients of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Regional X President’s Award. Kurt was recognized for his leadership of Bricker & Eckler and spearheading the award-winning Columbus Bar Association Managing Partner Diversity Initiative. Marilyn was recognized for her leadership in legal diversity at Nationwide and her involvement in the community.
Paul Sweeney, LCLD Diversity Contact at K&L Gates LLP, was appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Public Counsel.
Alicia Powell, 2014 Fellow and Chief Counsel–Investment at The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., was named a “2015 Most Powerful and Influential Woman” by the National Diversity Council.
