Prepare to Select 2016 Pathfinders: Informational Call Today

Soon LCLD Members will have the opportunity to select Pathfinders to participate in the 2016 LCLD Pathfinder Program. The program is designed for law firm associates who have three to five years of practice experience, and in-house counsel with three years or less of in-house experience (and less than eight years of total practice experience). The program provides Pathfinders with practical tools for relationship building, leadership, and forming career development strategies.
The program has proven valuable to 2015 Pathfinders including Makalika Naholowaa, of Microsoft, who said, “The Pathfinder Program is the most impactful programming of its kind that I have experienced. It has meaningfully changed how I go about developing my skills and career goals.”
We invite you to learn more about the program by attending the 2016 Pathfinder Program Informational Call today, January 14, from 3:30 - 4:30 pm EST (call-in number: 877-294-8214, access code: 5075876#).
We also encourage you to review the 2016 Pathfinder Program Information Sheet, the general Pathfinder Program Fact Sheet, and other program information on our website.
Members will be invited to submit their 2016 Pathfinders requests online, January 25 - February 25, 2016 (Please Note: Space is limited in the 2016 Pathfinder Program).
If your organization employs a 2011 1L LCLD Scholar, then you will have the opportunity to secure a spot for your Scholar by pre-registering them starting January 18, 2016.

2016 Annual Membership Meeting: Save the Date

The Seventh Annual LCLD Membership Meeting will take place October 5-6, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois, at The Peninsula Chicago.
The event will begin with a reception hosted by the LCLD Board of Directors on October 5, at 6:30 pm CT. A full day of programming and networking will take place October 6, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm CT.

2016 CLE Webinar: Save the Date
LCLD is pleased to announce the Fourth Annual Mid-Year CLE Webinar, Building Inclusive Teams: Systems for Solving the Legal Profession's Diversity Problem, presented by Professor William D. Henderson of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. We have partnered with the Practising Law Institute (PLI) to apply for CLE credit for this presentation, which will be hosted at the PLI New York office on Monday, April 18, 2016, 1:00-4:00 pm ET.
A live webcast of this presentation will be available to employees at all LCLD Member organizations. Registration for the webinar is coming soon.

Four More Fellows Become General Counsel
LCLD congratulates the following four LCLD Fellows who have recently secured General Counsel positions. We're proud that the list of Fellows who are rising to top levels of leadership in the legal profession continues to grow!
2015 Fellow Sandra Carbone became General Counsel of IZEA, Inc., in Winter Park, FL, last month. She was previously Associate Counsel at LCLD Member corporation Darden Restaurants, Inc., in Orlando, FL.
Last month, 2013 Fellow Valeria Chapa-Garza was promoted to Vice President & General Counsel, Latin America, at Honeywell International in Mexico City, Mexico. She now reports directly to LCLD Member Kate Adams, who is Senior Vice President and General Counsel in Morristown, NJ. Valeria was previously General Counsel, Latin America, at Honeywell.
2014 Fellow Martina Sailer also received a promotion last month, to General Counsel Americas for Environmental and Energy Solutions (E&ES) Commercial at Honeywell International in Golden Valley, MN. Prior to her new role, Martina was Assistant General Counsel at Honeywell.
In December, 2013 Fellow Amy Sanford became General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at US Anesthesia Partners in Franklin, TN. She was previously Group General Counsel at LCLD Member corporation DaVita HealthCare Partners in Brentwood, TN.
Fellow Spotlight
Congratulations to 2015 Fellow Travis Torrence, who was selected for the first-ever Fellow Spotlight for the month of January. In an effort to highlight both the accomplishments of our Fellows and the importance of the LCLD Fellows Directory, we are kicking off 2016 by spotlighting those Fellows who have created exemplary profiles.

Fellows Explore the SEC

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) hosted more than 25 LCLD Fellows for a day-long Learning Experience on November 5, 2015, at the agency’s Washington, D.C., headquarters. Fifteen agency employees, including Commissioner Kara Stein, briefed the Fellows on the SEC’s approach to public service, leadership, and the diversity of its workforce.
“At the SEC, we wear a lot of hats related to the financial industry,” said Stephen Cohen, Associate Director of the Division of Enforcement, which regulates capital markets and promotes transparency both domestically and overseas. “Having people with diverse backgrounds is, quite frankly, the only way we can solve problems for American investors.” Read the full article and view photos.
The next Learning Experience will be hosted at GlaxoSmithKline by Daniel Troy, LCLD Member and Senior Vice President and General Counsel at GlaxoSmithKline. Fellows Alumni Executive Council Kicks Off "All In!" Contributions Campaign

After months of careful deliberation, the Executive Council (EC) of the LCLD Fellows Alumni association is excited to announce the "All In!" campaign. The campaign requests a personal commitment from each Fellows Alumnus to build the Fellows Alumni organization through an annual contribution of $125.*
By making this contribution, Fellows Alumni will help to strengthen and expand the Fellows Alumni organization, enabling them to build an increasingly powerful platform to use as a springboard to greater success.
