Mentor Registration is Now Open

Please help LCLD recruit attorneys from your organization to become Mentors for the 2016-2017 LCLD Success in Law School Mentoring Program. In the fall, registered Mentors will be matched with diverse, first-year law students in major cities across the country. Although registration will be open through August, Mentors will be matched in the order in which they registered.

LCLD Fellows Alumni from the classes of 2011-2015 will reunite for the Fifth Annual LCLD Fellows Alumni Conference, June 23-26, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois. The conference will be hosted at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and the Loews Chicago Hotel.

The keynote speaker will be Bryan Stevenson, who is an attorney, human rights activist, Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative, and author of Just Mercy.

In addition to a community service project benefitting the Albany Park Theater Project and networking events, the second annual Rick Palmore LCLD Fellows Alumni Award for exceptional leadership and the Community Service Award will be presented at the conference. Highlights from the 2016 1L LCLD Scholars Summit in Chicago

More than 200 1L Scholars from all over the U.S. started their summer internships at LCLD Member organizations by attending the 2016 1L LCLD Scholars Summit, May 19-21, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois.

The Summit began with a series of mock interviews conducted by attorneys from LCLD Member organizations in the Chicago area, followed by a full two-day agenda of presentations, networking exercises, panel discussions, and social interaction.

Two LCLD Member organizations also sponsored receptions at the Summit: Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP supported the Welcome Reception on Thursday night; Walmart, the Networking Reception on Friday. Read the agenda and view photos.

Recent Learning Experience

 

The latest Fellows Learning Experience was hosted on June 8, 2016 at PNC Financial Services Group (PNC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by Greg Jordan, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer. Additionally, LCLD Member firms Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, K&L Gates LLP, and Reed Smith LLP hosted welcome events on the evening of June 7.

Microsoft Hosts Fellows Alumni Regional Roundtable

 

LCLD would like to thank Microsoft and all those who helped to organize the LCLD Fellows Alumni Regional Roundtable event hosted today in Washington, D.C. at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center.

The speakers were Frederick S. Humphries, Jr., Corporate Vice President of U.S. Government Affairs, and Hossein Nowbar, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Cloud & Enterprise Business and Microsoft Research & Advanced Technologies. The discussion was moderated by 2015 Fellow Alicia Lowery Rosenbaum, Senior Attorney in the Sales, Marketing, and Services Group.
