It's Time to Register Your 2018 1L Scholars

We're excited to announce that 130 Member organizations will host 1L LCLD Scholars to participate in internships at their organizations this summer! We thank these organizations for cultivating the pipeline of talented and diverse attorneys.
For participating Member organizations that haven't already done so, please register each of your 2018 1L Scholars here by Friday, May 4, 2018.
We are also looking forward to our largest group of 1L Scholars joining us at the 2018 LCLD 1L Scholars Summit, May 22-24, 2018 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill in Philadelphia, PA. The summit will include mock interviews, panel discussions, distinguished speakers, and networking opportunities designed to help Scholars get the most out of their summer internships and plan ahead for their legal careers.
You may reserve a room for your Scholars at the Sheraton here or by calling the Central Reservations Team at (800) 325-3535 and providing the room block name, "2018 LCLD 1L Scholars Summit." Please note that our group rate expires on Monday, May 1, 2018. The Credit Card Authorization form for your Scholars should be completed and faxed to (215) 925-2575 no later than Friday, April 20, 2018.

Mock Interviewers Needed: 2018 1L LCLD Scholars Summit

The 2018 1L Scholars will participate in Mock Interviews Wednesday, May 23, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm ET at Reed Smith LLP in Philadelphia. We're currently in need of attorneys from LCLD Member organizations to interview the Scholars for this exercise. Please share this opportunity with any attorneys at your firm who are in the Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and/or New York/New Jersey metro areas.

2017 and 2018 Fellows Gather for Changing of the Guard

Two classes of LCLD Fellows recently crossed paths—and shared insights—at The Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans, where the Class of 2017, during its third and final meeting, welcomed the record-setting Class of 2018 to its inaugural LCLD event.
The "2017s" went on to join the ranks of Fellows Alumni, who have grown to more than 1,300 since the Fellows Program was launched in 2011.

Authentic Selves: An LCLD Group Mentoring Event in West Virginia

One of LCLD’s most active regions, the West Virginia state branch of LCLD’s Success in Law School Mentoring Program kicked off 2018 with a star-studded Group Mentoring event in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Of the over 70 people in attendance, 20 were Mentoring Program participants. Also attending were representatives from seven LCLD Member organizations, including LCLD Fellows and LCLD Pathfinders; the WV State Bar leadership; faculty, staff, and students from West Virginia University (WVU) College of Law; and invited guests from the West Virginia judiciary and legal profession.
The event kicked off with a private chat with Marilyn McClure-Demers, Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, whose visionary leadership helped bring LCLD to West Virginia. The Mentors were then treated to a networking reception and were welcomed by Gregory Bowman, Dean of the WVU College of Law, who also delivered a message from WVU President Gordon Gee. University Provost and Vice President Joyce McConnell also attended to voice her support for the Mentoring Program. Read more.
