The LCLD Annual Meeting—Last Chance to Register 

 

October 15-16, 2018, LCLD Members and their guests are invited to attend the Ninth Annual LCLD Membership Meeting* at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C. On the evening of October 15, there will be a Welcome Reception at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Get Ready for the 2019 1L Scholars Program

LCLD Member organizations will be able to register to host 1L Scholars for summer 2019 internships from Wednesday, October 17 - Friday, November 16, 2018.

The 1L LCLD Scholars Program is designed to strengthen the legal pipeline by expanding the number of opportunities for diverse first-year law students. Prior to completing an internship at your organization, the 1L Scholars will be invited to attend the 2019 1L Scholars Summit on June 4-6, 2019, at the Sheraton Atlanta. This is a career-development conference designed specifically for the 2019 1L Scholars.

In preparation for the 2019 1L Scholars Program, we invite Members and diversity professionals to attend the upcoming 2019 1L Scholars Program Informational Call (Call-In Number: 877-294-8214, Access Code: 5075876#) on Tuesday, October 23, 1:30-2:30 pm ET. 

During the call, we'll give an overview of the program and address any questions you may have. In the interim, you may review the Scholars Program FAQs and the Scholars Program Fact Sheet.

The registration periods for 2019 Fellows and Pathfinders are still a couple of months away, but we hope you'll take this time to thoughtfully identify candidates for each program. Please mark your calendars for the following informational calls about each program, where you can learn more about the programs and ask questions.

2019 Fellows Program Informational Call

The Fellows Program is designed to connect high-potential attorneys (with 8-15 years of experience) from preeminent organizations for a year-long professional development series that focuses on leadership and relationship building. 2019 Pathfinder Program Informational Call

Thursday, November 8, 2018, 3-4 pm EST

Selection Period: Monday, December 3, 2018 - Friday, February 8, 2019

The Pathfinder Program is designed to connect high-potential attorneys for an eight-month professional development series that focuses on foundational leadership skills, professional networks and relationship building skills, and career development strategies. The program employs a range of training methods and networking opportunities available exclusively to Pathfinders. Law firm candidates should have three-to-five years of practice experience. A Spotless Experience: LCLD Fellows Visit The Clorox Company

More than two dozen LCLD Fellows gathered at the Oakland, CA headquarters of The Clorox Company for a Learning Experience hosted by LCLD Board Chair Laura Stein, Clorox’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel. 

In a welcome message delivered on video, CEO Benno Dorer gave the Fellows an overview of Clorox corporate values and inclusion efforts. His inspirational message, “Do the Right Thing,” was echoed by many other speakers throughout the day.

  • On August 28, 2018, the LCLD Fellows visited the campus of AT&T, Inc. for a Learning Experience hosted by LCLD Member David McAtee II, Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel. LCLD Member Law Firm Baker Botts L.L.P. hosted a Welcome Event on August 27. 
  • On September 18, 2018, the LCLD Fellows visited the Chicago headquarters of United Airlines, Inc. for a Learning Experience hosted by Brett Hart, Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, and General Counsel.

The next Learning Experience will be hosted at Facebook, Inc. in Menlo Park, CA on November 15, 2018, by LCLD Member Colin Stretch, Vice President and General Counsel.
