Build Local Networks with Regional Roundtables

Five years in, LCLD’s network of talented, diverse lawyers stretched across the United States. Deepening local connections was a natural next step.

In 2014, LCLD Member Ivan Fong hosted a group of 10 Fellows Alumni at the 3M Company headquarters in Minneapolis for a candid discussion of leadership and diversity. The forum, initiated by Fong and a group of Fellows Alumni, was the first in a now-fast-growing series of Fellows Regional Roundtables.

“I got to know a group of extremely talented ‘rising stars’ in the Twin Cities legal community,” Fong said. “And for them, it was a way to get to know me and discuss top-of-mind topics such as how to be a more effective leader and how to develop one’s career. For all of us, it was a chance to learn from each other.”

The roundtables allow LCLD Members and Fellows Alumni to develop relationships with local peers, across firm-corporation lines, and have helped build the foundation for LCLD's regional incubators. The growth of the initiative has been guided by the Fellows Alumni Program Development Committee. Regional Roundtables have since been hosted in many other cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
