The LCLD Alumni Awards recognize the outstanding achievements, commitment, and leadership of LCLD Fellows Alumni and Pathfinder Alumni whose exemplary contributions have had a substantial and lasting impact on the LCLD Fellows and Pathfinders network and in advancing the mission and goals of LCLD in the communities in which we practice and the legal profession more broadly.
About the LCLD Alumni Awards
The Rick Palmore Award
In 2015, the LCLD Fellows Alumni Executive Council created the Rick Palmore LCLD Alumni Award as a way to honor the contributions of Rick Palmore to LCLD and to recognize LCLD Fellows Alumni whose vision, commitment and contributions have exemplified the mission of LCLD and the LCLD Fellows Alumni community and have had a lasting impact on LCLD Fellows and Fellows Alumni specifically and their communities more generally.
In 2019, in recognition of the evolving LCLD Alumni community and in the spirit of inclusion, we expanded the award to recognize the exemplary contributions and impact made by LCLD Fellows Alumni and Pathfinder Alumni.
In 2023, The Rick Palmore Award will be given to up to two alums in the 2011-2019 Fellows or Pathfinder classes.
About Rick Palmore
Rick Palmore is one of most influential lawyers of our time and a nationally recognized advocate for diversity in the legal industry whose vision and hard work propelled, among countless other achievements, the founding of LCLD. Today, Rick serves on the Board as Founding Chair Emeritus and as Vice Chair of the Strategy and Innovation Committee. He continues to inspire his fellow Members to push the frontiers of diversity and inclusion for the legal profession.
The Rising Star Award
New in 2023, we are excited to introduce the Rising Star Award, which will recognize a recent LCLD alum who is engaged with the LCLD Alumni community and exemplifies LCLD's mission of Leadership, Action, and Results. This award will be given to one alum in the 2020-2022 Fellows or Pathfinder classes.
Nomination & Selection Process
Eligible Nominees
- Rick Palmore Award: Any member of the Fellows Alumni and Pathfinder Alumni communities from the 2011-2019 classes.
- Rising Staw Award: An alum in the 2020-2022 Fellows or Pathfinders classes.
- Members of the LCLD Alumni Executive Council are not eligible for either award.
Who May Nominate
Any of the following may nominate more than one nominee:
- Fellows Alumni and Pathfinder Alumni
- Current Fellows and Pathfinders (Class of 2023)
- LCLD Members (General Counsel and Managing Partners)
Nomination Form
To nominate LCLD Alumni for either award, please complete the nomination form, which will be available from Thursday, February 23, 2023 through Friday, March 24, 2023, at 5:00 pm ET. Nominators will be asked to include a brief description of the nominee's engagement and impact within the LCLD community, why the nominee is deserving of recognition, and their achievements that exemplify and further LCLD’s mission and goals.
