Time to Name Your 2013 LCLD Fellow
Selection is under way now to build the 2013 class of LCLD Fellows. With two years under our belt, and with more than 260 Fellows, it is a program that has gained the enthusiastic support of LCLD's leaders.
"The LCLD Fellows program represents the next leaders of the profession" says LCLD Chair Wally Martinez, Managing Partner of Hunton & Williams LLP.
Talent Development Committee Chair Deborah Majoras, Chief Legal Officer for Procter & Gamble, expands on that point: "A Fellow who had recently been given new duties for her corporation's marketing area was able to tap the experience of another Fellow with retail and marketing experience. That ability to network and find support really accelerated her mastering of the new responsibilities."
"That is a huge benefit both to her and to her company."
Altria General Counsel Denise Keane has shared her strong endorsement of the LCLD Fellows Program in a brief video interview. Click here to view.

"The LCLD Fellows program creates an environment where future thought leaders of legal departments of major corporations and law firms are given a pathway to build important relationships, share career experiences, offer opportunities for mutual mentorship, and foster friendships. In my view, these are the intangible and necessary tools that one needs to ensure success in an otherwise challenging profession."

"The LCLD Fellows program was not just another diversity event or career development program. Every panel and interaction provided premium information to help us hone our skills to be outstanding lawyers and leaders for the profession. One of the most powerful aspects of the LCLD Fellows Program is the personal investment of the LCLD members. We had an unmatched opportunity to learn from and spend time with managing partners and general counsel."

Leadership Lunch Opportunities in 2013
We would like to extend an invitation to you to participate in a Leadership Lunch in your region. In addition to providing an opportunity to assist in the professional development of LCLD Fellows, Leadership Lunches facilitate new relationships between participating General Counsel and Managing Partners. We anticipate that participation in a Leadership Lunch would require no more than one hour of advance preparation and no more than two hours of time on the day of the event, so this is a great way to get involved with a limited time commitment.
If you would like to participate in a Leadership Lunch in your region during 2013, please email lbald@lcldnet.com with your interest and the date(s) you are available.

Success in Law School Initiative Exceeds 2,700 Mentors and Mentees
The Success in Law School Initiative of LCLD's Pipeline Committee launched the second round of the Individual Mentoring Program (IMP) in early September 2012. Thus far, over 800 attorneys from close to half of LCLD's membership have volunteered to serve as one-on-one mentors to diverse 1L students in 31 cities around the country. LCLD is thrilled with the success of the IMP and hopes to continue to grow and improve the program over time.
A testament to our success is the number of students who have signed up for mentor attorneys. Several cities have extensive wait lists of students because we simply do not have enough mentor attorneys to satisfy the student need.
Cities where we need more mentor attorneys and the number of attorney mentors needed are:
- Boston (13)
- Chicago (40)
- Kansas City (6)
- San Francisco (5)
- Washington DC (54)
If you have attorneys who are based in these cities who may still like to participate in the IMP, please send them here to register for the Success in Law School Individual Mentoring Program or have them contact Sarah Wintle.
