Members and Program Participants Invited to Leadership Dialogue in San Francisco
Please join us at the San Francisco office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP on May 2, 2016 from 5:45-7:30 pm PT for Deepening Relationships and Developing Leaders, an evening of connection with Bay Area LCLD Fellows, Pathfinders, and 1L Scholars. We will kick off with an engaging discussion featuring Laura Stein (left), Executive Vice President and General Counsel of The Clorox Company and Chair-Elect of the LCLD Board of Directors, and Mitch Zuklie (right), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Orrick, sharing their thoughts on what matters in leadership today.
Other guests of honor will include Robert Grey, President of LCLD, and Bay Area-based General Counsel and Managing Partners who are members of LCLD. This event is open to past and current LCLD Fellows, Pathfinders, and Scholars.

LCLD Takes the Pathfinder Program to Scale

They hail from all over the United States: 113 attorneys from 78 law firms and corporations, rising stars in the profession who have been selected as 2016 LCLD Pathfinders.
Piloted last year with 40 attorneys from LCLD member law firms and corporations, the newest LCLD program trains early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies, with an emphasis on leadership, networking, and relationship building.
Between LCLD's 1L Scholars and Fellows programs, "there was a gap for junior associates or the youngest members of a corporate law department," said Greg Jordan, General Counsel at PNC Financial Services Group and a former LCLD board member. "That is a population of lawyers where you have very high attrition. So we created the Pathfinder Program as a way to deal with it." Maryanne Lavan Speaks at Washington, D.C. Fellows Roundtable

LCLD Member and Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of Lockheed Martin, Maryanne Lavan, hosted an LCLD Regional Roundtable for Washington, D.C.-area Fellows on March 30, at Eddie V's Prime Seafood in McLean, VA. Her colleagues Susan Dunnings, Associate General Counsel Employment & Labor Law, and Jeff Divney, Associate General Counsel of EESH, IP, and Technology Law, also joined Lavan in sharing their experience, speaking to a group of nine Fellows about work-life balance and diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
“I was encouraged that many of the lunch participants were eager to talk about diversity in our profession," Lavan said. "All of us can play a role in making sure our profession is more diverse and inclusive.”

Mentees Learn a Vital Skill: Building Relationships with Mentors

The Washington, D.C. office of Littler Mendelson P.C. hosted a Spring Group Mentoring Program Event on April 6, 2016, which featured a networking reception for D.C.-area LCLD Mentor attorneys and Mentee law students. Alison Davis, the D.C. Office Managing Shareholder, was also in attendance.
The highlight of the evening was a presentation by Chris De Santis, a masterful voice on professional and organizational development who has spoken at events for LCLD Members, Fellows, and Pathfinders. Speaking on the topic of, “A Protégé's Guide to Mentoring,” De Santis treated the 40 attendees to lively tips on how mentees can build relationships with assigned mentors by understanding the generational and experiential differences between them, and how to ask questions that delve below surface conversations.
