The Fellows Alumni Advocacy Group Program is a unique take on peer-to-peer mentoring. Advocacy Groups regularly hold 30-minute conference calls during which members do an intensive and confidential review of the career of a single Fellow, based on the Fellow's summary of his/her career history and goals. Members also take steps to assist the Fellow in reaching their goals. The Advocacy Group cycle lasts approximately six months. Events and Opportunities of Interest
CLE ON DIVERSITY, SEXUAL HARASSMENT, #METOO, AND MORE: Chicago, IL - September 25, 2018
An expert panel including LCLD Fellows Layla Strothoff, Shilpa Upadhye, Brandon Williams, and Janeen Lofton will discuss how employers can work to prevent and eliminate sexual harassment and violence in their workplace, and create an environment in which employees are able to respond to and report incidents without fear of retaliation. DIVERSITY STAKEHOLDER GATHERING: IN-HOUSE COUNSEL: Seattle, WA - October 1, 2018, at 1 p.m.
Starbucks Coffee Company and the Washington Initiative for Diversity will be hosting a diversity stakeholder gathering for in-house counsel lawyers on October 1, 2018. The gathering will focus on engaging outside counsel, strategies for firm selection, as well as approaches to encourage the inclusion of diverse outside counsel talent. 2016 Fellow Jason Barnwell is the featured speaker, and the event will also include a panel discussion on best practices and challenges related to retention, development, and promotion of a diverse legal workforce. AMAZON INTERVIEWS AT MCCA CONFERENCE: New York, NY - October 1-3, 2018

LCLD/CPR/FINRA MEDIATION/ARBITRATION TRAINING PROGRAM
This program, which has trained 11 Fellows to date, is intended to provide program participants with early skills development and unique access to professional development opportunities in dispute resolution through: (a) formal training in mediation and arbitration skills and practical observational experience; (b) mentoring by skilled neutrals, and (c) networking opportunities within CPR’s commercial dispute resolution community. Our goal would be to create meaningful opportunities for program participants to become qualified as neutrals and better positioned to become neutrals of choice. Our program will commence in late fall with a kick-off event (Oct. 3 in NYC), continue with FINRA and other training in the Fall, CPR’s Annual Meeting in Washington, DC on February 28-March 2, 2019 and more programs throughout 2019 before culminating with CPR’s Annual Meeting in 2020. This program, at a minimal cost of $750 for the entire program, is ideal for Fellows in the Mid-Atlantic although we welcome all Fellows who are interested in participating.
